Getting approval of final art

Getting approval for this book was suprisingly, but pleasantly abrupt. I was expecting a mound of revisions as is in most cases. I sometimes think editors feel like they haven't done their jobs until they've completely covered each illustration with post-it note revisions. But with SURE AS SUNRISE, they sent back just two pieces of art asking only that I add whiskers to Bruh Rabbit where I had left them out.

Earlier on, I emailed Sheila Smallwood, the new art director, digital images of the art in progress. So maybe this helped the process move along quicker. She also sent an email note saying that she loved the art and that she was going to keep an eye out for another manuscript. This is cool. The original art director on this project, Bob Kosturko, moved on to other publishing endeavors. I'm greatful that he discovered my artwork over the internet and for his offer to me this sort of break-out project.
